ERICSSON CLAIMS TO HAVE SMALLEST GSM DIGITAL PHONE

By CBR Staff Writer

L M Ericsson Telefon AB claims to have the smallest Groupe Speciale Mobile digital phone currently available. The company showed the thing off at the GSM World Congress in Cannes, where it told Reuters that it expects price erosion of some 20% to 25% this year – although most users in highly competitive markets haven’t a clue how much phones actually cost, because they are sold as part of a package of cellular service. The new baby, the GF 788, is about the size of a packet of cigarettes, measuring 4.1 by 1.9 by 0.9, weighs 4.7 oz and offers three hours of talk time, 60 hours standby.
