Ericsson and Siemens are planning to develop together a ‘new generation’ mobile telephone system for the Nordic countries and West Germany, which would enable people to move between the two countries without having to use different equipment: the companies intend to introduce the ‘D-Net’ system by 1991 and hope that it could become a standard pan-European system.
