Equant’s service expansion will enable Cisco’s mobile employees worldwide to securely connect to the company’s private network with a local phone call in more than 130 countries and territories.

The agreement expands an earlier contract in which Equant provided IP Dial service to Cisco outside the U.S. The new contract renews that service and adds Cisco’s remote access business in the U.S. utilizing iPass Inc., a premier provider of next-generation remote connectivity services, based in Redwood Shores, Calif. Together Equant and iPass will enable Cisco’s traveling employees to connect securely to the company’s private network via wired and wireless broadband services. Cisco will be able to take advantage of newly integrated services that bring together Equant’s extensive IP dial services and the latest broadband and wireless technologies from iPass.

We are pleased that Cisco Systems has entrusted Equant and iPass with this significant new remote business, further extending Equant’s portfolio of services that address, meet and exceed requirements of global customers such as Cisco, said Richard Blaustein, head of North America, Equant. The new agreement will put Cisco’s mobile users worldwide in touch with the company’s private network from virtually anywhere.

Equant IP Dial has been a real benefit for Cisco’s communications with the company’s mobile employees, and for that reason, we chose to significantly expand the global remote access services, said John Bruno, vice president, Technology Marketing at Cisco Systems. Together Equant and iPass provide a high level of network availability and unmatched global access to our traveling users, as well as high-quality service and security services that are world class.

More than 200 major companies now rely on Equant IP Dial for secure, around-the-clock dial access to their corporate intranets and other corporate resources. Equant IP Dial is available in more than 130 countries and territories, giving it the greatest geographic coverage of any single-operator dial network.
