Equant NV, the Amsterdam based operator of a worldwide data network, has introduced an internet-dial service for its corporate customers, which it says will provide a more direct connection to web sites and corporate intranets worldwide. The new product is an extension of the company’s IP-based global integrated virtual private network (iVPN) offering, which was already enhanced, earlier this year, with integrated voice and data (iVAD) with off-net dialing, high speed point-to-point protocol dialing, and video conferencing. The company says that internet-dial makes it possible for remote employees to get reliable access to the internet and their company’s intranet, check email, browse and participate in discussion groups through a single service provider. The company claims that the new product represents better performance, due to the fact that the service is managed throughout by Equant itself. It should also result in reduced costs, the company claims, with average access savings of up to 50% versus international direct-call, off-network access to an ISP.
