Epson America has introduced its new Perfection V500 Office Scanner for micro-business owners, home office users and consumers. The new scanning product combines the features of a document scanner and the image quality of a photo scanner into a compact package.

The company claimed that the new scanner includes a 30-page automatic document feeder with scan speeds up to three pages per minute, four push buttons for one-touch scanning, and the company’s ReadyScan LED technology for scans.

The company said that its new scanner offers 6400 dpi resolution for quality scans, and photo features such as a transparency unit for negative, slides and film scanning, Digital ICE Technology for dust and scratch removal in film scans, and Easy Photo Fix technology for restoring old and faded images, removing dust and reducing grain.

The new offering also features: Adobe PhotoShop Elements for photo editing, Event Manager for one-touch scan jobs such as Scan to E-mail or creating searchable PDFs, and ABBYY Fine Reader Sprint Plus OCR for creating editable documents from scans. The scanner is said to be compatible with operating systems including Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional, Windows XP Home/Professional, Windows XP Professional x64, Windows Vista and Macintosh OS X 10.3.9-10.5.x.

Mitch Kadish, senior product manager of professional imaging at Epson America, said: Continuing Epson’s commitment to innovation, the Epson Perfection V500 Office is a versatile scanner that is designed to produce high-quality scans, whether for personal or business needs. By combining the productivity features of a document scanner with detailed image quality expected from a dedicated photo scanner, Epson is able to deliver the ideal scanning solution at a great value.
