Torrance, California-based Epson America Inc has announced price cuts on the EPL-7500 laser printer and the ES-300C colour scanner: the first has been reduced to $3,000 from $3,300 and the ES-300C is $1,700, down from $2,000; the EPL-7500 is a laser printer that incorporates PostScript software from Adobe Systems Inc, with 35 built-in fonts and an XL-8200 RISC processor from Weitek Corp; the ES-300C is a desktop colour scanner that incorporates TruePass, a process that requires the scanning mechanism to pass over an image once only; it involves red, blue and green gas-filled light bars that illuminate alternately to provide registration and allow colour corrections during the scanning process; in mono mode, the light bars illuminate simultaneously to capture the entire grey scale without any colour drop-out.
