EPOCH SYSTEMS OFFERS ERASABLE OPTICAL SERVER FOR NETWORK FILE SYSTEM STATIONS

Epoch Systems Inc, Westborough, Massachusetts has come out with a new erasable optical disk file server usable with any workstation that supports Sun Micosystems Inc’s Network File System. The Epoch 1 20-Series comes with one or two of Hewlett-Packard Co’s C1710A 20.8Gb optical disk subsystems, and also takes up to six 760Mb Winchesters for accessing data that is used frequently and for which fast access is required. Prices for the 20-Series start at $82,000 for a subsystem with one C1720A and one 760Mb Winchester, plus 8Mb of memory on the unidentified – control processor. Epoch has sold 100 of its earlier generation.
