Epicor utilized Microsoft .NET technologies in the development of the new software, which Paul Farrell, vice president of worldwide R&D for Epicor, believes has allowed Epicor to create a smart client application that can be deployed across global enterprises over a variety of network bandwidths – providing accessibility to the application anytime, anywhere, and on any device.

Vantage 8.0 incorporates a Windows-based smart client that creates a rich user interface. These Smart Client applications exploit the processing power available on the local PC or mobile device, in an effort to deliver improved performance and functionality over traditional applications.

Other smart clients, such as Web browsers, .NET Framework-enabled handheld devices, are also able to access Vantage’s business logic.

Vantage 8.0, introduced in September 2004, offers an end-to-end manufacturing system that addresses the business needs of make-to-order (MTO) and mixed-mode manufacturers with built-in workflows managing the entire order cycle from marketing and sales, through production and planning and then financial recognition.
