eOn unveils communications platform eConn IP-PBX

Enables users to access, manage and respond to any kind of message, using any device, from anywhere, anytime

By CBR Staff Writer

eOn Communications, a provider of telecommunications offerings, has unveiled new communications platform eConn IP-PBX, which is a Voice over IP (VoIP) system that provides organisations with communications system designed to support 10 to 1,000 users.

The company said that the new communications platform uses commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) hardware and Linux CentOS, to provide teleworking functionality, conferencing and collaboration, automatic call distribution, and wireless capabilities.

The eConn supports an array of telephony features and consists features of Millennium and eQueue communications platforms.

In addition, the eConn can cluster multiple systems and IP devices together over IP or TDM based infrastructures, and supports an IP-Q.SIG protocol to provide feature transparency and interoperability as an IP gateway for existing Millennium, eQueue and traditional PBX systems.

The system architecture is based on Host-based Media Processing (HMP), which is a new design model in telecommunications that uses software offerings to perform voice processing functions.

HMP also provides non-blocking communications between industry-standard Ethernet LAN/WAN connections and Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) stations and trunks.

The system’s enterprise management suite provides system, network and real time management tools, which provides graphical views of IP and TDM port assignments, devices and user privileges, network monitoring, and real-time notification of system alarms and call management reports.

The eConn is integrated with eOn’s IP Messenger, an Unified Communications platform that provides unified messaging, fax messaging, wireless connectivity, CTI call control, one number Find Me functionality, Web access, instant messaging, conferencing, speech recognition, and text-to-speech for e-mail reading.

The company said that eConn supports a range of desktop devices, including entry-level IP phones, wireless handsets (WiFi or IP DECT), full-duplex audio conference units, analog telephones, softphones and other devices.
