Entrust Technologies Inc was previewing version 5.0 of its Entrust/PKI software at its SecureSummit 99 show yesterday, where it also announced a technical alliance with Intel Corp. The new software, which will be available in the fourth quarter of this year, will work with two complementary products, Entrust/Roaming for mobile users and Entrust/AutoRA self-registration and automatic authentication.

New features in 5.0 include PKI networking, to enable trusted transactions between two organizations, automatic certificate authority update, expanded algorithm support, registration authority policy control and user policy management.

Also announced at the show is Entrust desktop solutions, which is a CD including PKI, secure sign-on, secure email and so on. The relationship with Intel calls for integration of Intel’s security platforms with Entrust PKI and its toolkits and then joint work on policy management, virtual private networking and other security products. Entrust/PKI will cost $20,000 for the Windows NT and Solaris server components and user fees are based on volume.
