Entrust Technologies Inc, the Plano, Texas-based provider of digital certificates for e-commerce security software, has reported third-quarter net income of $2.0m on revenue up 73.5% at $22.6m, compared to a net loss of $1.6m in the year-ago quarter. Earnings per share for the quarter were $0.04, beating the First Call consensus by a penny. License revenues were $16.5m, up 68% year-over-year and 19% sequentially. Services and maintenance revenues, meanwhile, rose to $6.1m from $3.2m for the same quarter last year, an increase of 91%.

Separately Tuesday, the company announced the appointment of David Thompson as senior vice president of finance and chief financial officer. Most recently, Thompson served as vice president of finance for Nortel Network Inc’s enterprise solutions business unit. For the nine-month period, net income was $3.3m on revenue up 74.2% at $59.2m, compared to a net loss of $23m last year.
