enTourage Systems has launched dualbook eDGe, which it claims to combine the functionalities of an e-reader, tablet netbook, note pad and audio/video player and recorder into one product.
According to enTourage, the new dual-screen WiFi-enabled electronic device merges an e-paper screen with an LCD screen for interactivity. It comprises of 9.7 inch diagonal e-paper display on the left side, where users can read e-books in PDF and EPUB format, draw diagrams and take notes. It has a 10.1-inch diagonal LCD screen on the right side for web surfing. This screen also includes a virtual keyboard.
The company said that the two screens can work together to perform functions such as pulling up pages and images from the e-paper screen in colour on the LCD, opening up video links from textbooks or dragging and dropping terms and names from the e-book into a web browser to search for additional information.
The eDGe includes a built-in noise-cancelling microphone and 1.3 mega pixel camera. The product runs on the Android operating system and folds in a full 360 degrees with ability to orient its displays horizontally or vertically, the company said.
In addition, the company said that it is building its own e-book store, which has access to over 200,000 trade books and more than one million free public domain books digitised by Google, as well as to many magazines, newspapers and periodicals.
