The firm is hoping to ride the second wave of adoption of SSL VPNs, by creating a simple low-cost alternative to the current market leaders, most of which are only beginning to aim at the SMB market.

The SMB market tends to adopt technologies a bit more slowly than the enterprise world, said Enkoo CEO Ajit Deora. We think the explosion is going to take place in 2005, and by the middle of 2005 we’ll have channel partners all over the world.

The new 3000 series of Enkoo devices start at just under $4,000 and support between 25 and 200 users, Deora said. The other two devices in the catalog, the 1000 and 2000, start at $995 and support up to 25 or up to 100 concurrent users.

The company says that while it has fewer application proxies than its rivals, a key differentiator is its remote PC feature, which allows roaming workers access to their desktops via an SSL-encrypted browser session.
