ENGLISH HERITAGE TO IDENTIFY POST-1939 RED TELEPHONE BOXES WORTHY OF PROTECTION

The Department of the Environment has asked English Heritage to identify, with the help of British Telecom, post-1939 red telephone boxes worthy of listing as being of special architectural and historic interest; up to 400 boxes are expected to be listed in addition to the 175 pre-1939 boxes already protected; surprisingly, in view of its strong support for the unpopular new yellow boxes, British Telecom says it welcomes the move.
