Energis Squared, the internet and e-business arm of Energis, will initially supply Computer 2000 with connectivity, hosting and e-commerce solutions, which will, for the first time, enable the distributor to offer a range of services traditionally sourced directly from an Internet Service Provider (ISP). Other services from Energis Squared, such as media streaming and Application Service Provision (ASP), will be available shortly.

Energis Squared was one of the first companies in the UK to specialise in the provision of internet connectivity services to corporate business. It operates the largest business-focused web farm in Europe, hosting more than 16,500 websites on over 1,300 dedicated servers. Its customers include Freeserve, Ananova, bootsphoto.com, dreamticket.com, Emap and jungle.com. The partnership with Computer 2000 will enable Energis Squared to focus on the indirect

reseller channel and deliver value-added internet products and services to the reseller community and its customers.

Welcoming the partnership, John Beaumont, Energis Squared’s managing director, said: This agreement with Computer 2000 will enable Energis Squared to strengthen its position in the channel as the leading provider of internet and e-business solutions in the UK and Europe. We are looking forward to working closely with Computer 2000 and developing the portfolio for its customers.

General manager of the Networking Division at Computer 2000, Andy Shepperd, commented: This agreement is a revolutionary breakthrough in distribution thinking. It represents a new and very important development for Computer 2000, for our customers and for the channel as a whole. In working with Energis Squared, we are partnering to serve the burgeoning IP and telecommunications market with a complete end-to-end solution and giving the whole reseller community the opportunity to purchase connectivity, hosting and e-commerce services as well as the communications infrastructure and software from a single source.

The agreement with Energis Squared is, he added, yet another innovative move in a series that the Networking Division has planned for the coming year. We have made great strides over the past twelve months and we intend to capitalise fully on the platform of strength we have built in the networking arena to develop and enhance the range of services we can offer to our reseller customers.
