Encore Computer (UK) Ltd has enhanced its high-end Concept/32 minicomputer range – originally the Systems Engineering Laboratories SEL/32, later the core of the Gould Computer Systems line – with the addition of a new Ada computer aided software engineering toolset. Encore says that the toolset simplifies the design, implementation, documentation, and testing of Ada software, and speeds production of Department of Defense 2167 and 2167A documentation. The tools consist of three processors that are used throughout a software development cycle and use an Ada-based Program Design Language. The three tools are AdaDL, DocGen, and TestGen. The first is an Ada-based Design and Documentation Language, the second is a document gener ator, and TestGen is a test generator. AdaDL analyses source input file and generates reports that describe file structure and components. DocGen is used to produce Department of Defense 2167 and 2167A documentation and user-defined reports. The TestGen processor produces test strategies based on different methodologies, and provides the means to analyse tests. The toolset also provides Programmable Editor templates to assist users in entering Ada and Program Design Language structures, which are compilable and kept in the same file as the Ada source code. The design language is also used to construct data dictionary definitions and to mark information for use in project management reports.
