Emulex Corp, Costa Mesa, California has a new terminal server, the P4000-TL, which operates with virtually all types of computer systems and is designed for a mixed-vendor network fully compatible with LAT and TCP/IP local area networks. The base units are available in 8-, 12-, or 16-port configurations, but can be expanded to 28 or 32 ports and the server uses a proprietary dual processor Intel 80186 architecture. The P4000-TL provides features of DEC’s Ethernet terminal server including compatibility with VMS, Ultrix-32 and RSTS/E; it will be shipped in volume in May, and prices range from $3,900 for the 16-port version, rising to $6,085 for 32 ports.
