EMERALD TECHNOLOGY MAKES ITS LOCAL 5250 EMULATION PRODUCTS COMPATIBLE WITH IBM

By CBR Staff Writer

Emerald Technology Inc, the Bothell, Washington company that generated some excitement with its System 36-to-AS/400 utility now claims to be the first non-IBM vendor to make its local 5250 emulation products fully compatible with AS/400 PC Support, so that the IBM product can provide twinax-attached MS-DOS micro-to host communications using IBM LU 6.2 protocol or Advanced Program-to-Program Communications: with AS/400 PC Support, the 5250 data stream is now embedded in an APPC format, and the new release will be available this month as a free software upgrade for current customers on request; the 5250 is of course the preferred terminal for the System 36 and System 38.
