Emerald Technology Inc, the Bothell, Washington company dedicated to filling in the communications gaps in IBM’s offerings for the AS/400, has added remote 5250 emulation products for MS-DOS micro users. The company claims that the products are the first to be fully compatible with the AS/400 and provide access to the AS/400 PC Support program. Using the 3XMate or 3XPlus with Emerald’s new AS/400 PC Support remote adaptor handler, the end user no longer needs IBM’s 5394 controller but can still take full advantage of AS/400 benefits, it says. It is now standard in all Emerald’s 5250 emulators, which go from $750 to $1,200. Its products are sold in the UK by Exycon Ltd of Luton.
