EMC PUTS ITS FOOT ON THE SOFTWARE PEDAL

EMC Corp says 75% to 80% of the $1bn it plans to spend on R&D in the next three years will go on software development. Software accounts for 14% of revenue now. It expects that to rise to between 15% to 20% in 2001. At its March 1 event in New York it will unveil new Fibre Channel storage hardware and software for the emerging SAN market. á
