EMC Corp is installing 11 Symetrix Integrated Cached Disk Array storage devices for the Business Management Services division of Control Data Corp, and it will install a further nine by June 1992: the units are being used to store the information that Control Data uses to process the payroll of its clients; the company says that the Symmetrix drive has eliminated bottlenecks and the mirroring option enables all the data in the system to be backed up or simultaneously copied onto an additional drive; Control Data is running the Symmetrix units on a variety of IBM processors and all of the installed drives are in 24Gb configurations, as are all but one under order.
