The unnamed carrier is aiming to launch an IPTV service at the end of the year, provided by a coalition of companies led by a European systems integrator. Orca will sell licenses for its RIGHTv IPTV middleware platform to the carrier service provider. The operator has committed to purchase 150,000 Orca licenses over a three-year period.

Last October, the Raanana, Israel-based company listed on the alternative investment market of the London Stock Exchange, and raised GBP14m ($26m) before expenses. The success of the IPO has left the company sitting on a very comfortable cash pile of $23.5m in 2004, compared to only $103,124 in 2003.

Orca develops and licenses IP-based TV middleware that enables broadband IP service providers to deliver interactive television and video services over broadband. Orca’s software addresses the needs of movie-on-demand providers, such as broadcasters, telecom operators, cable operators, and broadband ISP operators.

Orca Interactive is a subsidiary of Emblaze Ltd (formerly known as Geo Interactive), a group of companies that offer communication technologies for various sectors including the military and homeland security markets. Emblaze retains approximately 60% of Orca.
