Through its web-based newsletter, mtv.co.uk will promote key content on the site via teaser video clips and headline links that drive traffic back to the site. The first issue of the newsletter will be sent to subscribers and can also be viewed at www.mtv.co.uk/newsletter.
MTV’s new marketing initiative is another example of Streamwave delivering innovative media streaming applications to businesses, providing new ways of building customer loyalty and creating more compelling websites. Existing Streamwave customers include GMTV, Joose.tv and Sony.
Streamwave is an audio and video web streaming technology, based on EmblazeÔ technology from Emblaze Systems, which requires no plug-ins to deliver live and on-demand content to almost anyone with an internet connection and a browser. Streamwave is co-marketed throughout Europe by Energis Squared, the internet and e-business arm of Energis, and Emblaze Systems, the wireless video company.
John Beaumont, managing director of Energis Squared, said: For many companies static, text-based marketing is becoming a thing of the past as they recognise the commercial value of alternative ways of communicating with customers, using the very latest technology. Streamwave will enable MTV to create more compelling and commercially valuable websites and web-based services.
Chris Sice, managing director of MTVi UK, the interactive division of MTV, commented: This is the UK’s first newsletter to carry video content from a music site. It’s a great way for MTV to converge its media to create seamless integration between the channel and website.
Itay Gissin, director of marketing at Emblaze Systems, said: It makes sense that a channel as dynamic as MTV communicates with its subscribers in the most stimulating, multi-dimensional form. Up until now the quality of video streaming has been poor with users having to put up with interruptions, buffering and low run rates. The server/encoder technology behind Streamwave means users just have to fire up their internet browser to enjoy MTV interviews, videos and live concerts.
