North London-based Elonex Plc will be unveiling its new NB-425X notebook personal computer at this year’s Business Computing ’92 show. It is around A4 size, weighs 5 lbs 8 oz, and features a 25MHz 80486SXprocessor, upgradable to 66MHz; it has no fewer than four removable and upgradable screens – active matrix colour, passive colour and two monochrome, and runs on mains or battery (average battery life is 18 hours). Other features include a choice of removable 40Mb to 450Mb hard disks, external 3.5 drive, an integrated pointing device, 2Mb expandable to 16Mb RAM, E2P2 connector, serial ports and PCMCIA slot for connection to a modem or network. The computer was designed by California-based Oakleigh Systems Inc and will be built at Elonex’s north London site. It will be UKP1,000 for monochrome configurations, UKP1,500 for the colour ones.
