Elementum Advisors Selects AIR’s Catastrophe Modeling Systems

AIR Worldwide said that Elementum Advisors, a Chicago-based alternative investment manager focused on collateralized reinsurance investments and insurance-linked securities (ILS), has licensed Catrader, an application for analyzing catastrophe reinsurance and insurance-linked securities.

According to AIR Worldwide, Elementum will utilize Catrader and Alert, AIR’s online real-time loss estimation service, to assess and manage the risks associated with its portfolio of catastrophe bonds and other insurance-linked securities.

The Catrader system enables investors to assess the risk associated with financial instruments, including catastrophe bonds, industry loss warranties, sidecars and collateralized reinsurance investments. It is a tool for investment managers who specialize in insurance-linked securities.

Alert (AIR Loss Estimates in Real Time) application system is an online service providing information and loss estimates for natural catastrophes. It is a resource for companies trading these instruments in the secondary market, the company said.

Mike France, COO of Elementum Advisors, said: “We selected AIR’s Catrader because it enables us to quickly evaluate new investments and fine-tune our portfolio to obtain a more desirable risk/return profile. Catrader also supports a wide range of ILS transaction types, which is very important for our strategies.
