ELECTRONIC VENGEANCE

One of the drawbacks of computers is that they make it so damn easy for disaffected employees who use them to wreak electronic vengeance that won’t be discovered until it’s much too late: health insurer Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island has had a rotten year, what with being pilloried over rising premiums and being found guilty of trying to eliminate competition in Rhode I, so the last thing it needed was for its mailing computer to send out letters about doctors’ bills with the postscript Note – Your eligible charges will remain in file until hell freezes over.
