ELECTRONIC DATA SYSTEMS WIN DVOIT CONTRACT

Electronic Data Systems Corp has won the bidding to take over the what is known at DVOIT – only government could come up with an acronym like that – otherwise the computer arm of the UK Drivers & Vehicle Licensing Agency, in what is billed as the first Government Executive Agency to be privatised: the General Motors Corp unit takes on 370 people and offices in Swansea, and gets a five-year contract to continue supplying services; terms of the pact were not given.
