General Motors Electronic Data Systems unit is rapidly expanding its presence in Japan and the latest move is establishment in Kawasaki outside Tokyo, of a CAD/CAM support centre for the Asia-Pacific region which has hitherto been supported from Detroit, Dallas and from European bases; the centre will initially have 12 systems engineers and will will develop new software, and do program testing and demonstrations; EDS is looking for high rates of growth in Japan, with immediate target of $40m from a $200,000 base
