Pick-popper Electronic Data Processing Plc, Sheffield is cooking up a Unix-based database management system capable of executing Pick software, and as part of the effort has agreed to pay $791,000 upfront, $1.2m in total for two Colorado companies, Via Systems Inc and Open Inc. Via, which will become the company’s US distributor, has two key products, the Compusheet+ financial modelling system and Axiom portable graphical user interface, both for the Pick market. It lost $11,200 on sales of $1.5m in the year to January when it had net assets of $98,000. Open has a portable graphical interface for the Unix market, and at December 31 had net liabilities of $46,200; it lost $52,000 on $154,000 sales in 1991.
