ELECTROLUX HAS AGREEMENT TO PURCHASE DOMESTIC AND COMMERCIAL APPLIANCE DIVISIONS FROM THORN

By CBR Staff Writer

Nothing sucks like an Electrolux as the ads so vulgarly put it, and the big Swede looks like sucking up another major business: Thorn EMI has reached agreement in principle to sell its domestic and commercial appliance divisions to Electrolux for a sum slightly below the UKP70m combined net worth of assets; the Thorn divisions include Tricity, Moffat and Parkinson-Cowan cookers, Bendix washing machines, and Crypto-Peerless; Thorn shares shot up 12p on the news late on Friday.
