The value-added service, according to EggFusion, will empower consumers with information they can use immediately to feel more confident in the freshness of the eggs they buy.

The service is being provided on America’s Choice Conventional eggs, which are available in more than 275 of the A&P Family of Supermarkets, including A&P, A&P Super Foodmart, Super Fresh, Waldbaum’s and Food Emporium banners, with stores located on the east coast from Connecticut to Maryland.

Developed to ensure consumers are getting the freshest eggs possible, EggFusion’s patent-pending laser marking technology provides added convenience because it enables consumers to quickly determine the freshness and origin of each egg regardless of whether it has been removed from the carton, EggFusion said.

Using laser light and a suite of proprietary software applications, EggFusion uses the USDA-accepted process to place a micro-thin groove on the egg quickly and accurately without slowing the production process or affecting the integrity of the eggshell.

By visiting participating retailers’ web sites or MyFreshEgg.com and entering their traceability code, shoppers can retrieve egg information such as where and when the egg was packaged.
