The EEC Commission is considering delivering a body blow to Japanese companies that duck in under tariff barriers to imports of such products as printers and electronic typewriters by importing the parts and subassemblies and integrating them in European plants: the Commission is thinking in terms of extending the import duties on the finished products to the components that are used in their manufacture.
