EE has issued a recall for all Power Bar portable chargers due to fire safety risk.

The company’s move follows an initial recall of 500,000 portable chargers after reports that they could overheat and burst.

EE said in order to ensure customer safety, all Power Bars should be returned to one of its stores.

The company said in a statement: "If you have a Power Bar, you should stop using it straight away and hand it in to one of our stores.

"We are taking this action because we are aware of a very small number of further incidents where Power Bars have overheated in circumstances that could cause a fire safety risk."

Customers who return their charger to an EE store will get a £20 voucher in exchange.

EE topped the list of broadband and mobile complaints in the third quarter of this year.

Figures from Ofcom reveal that EE proportionally generates the highest number of complaints to the regulator in broadband, with 45 complaints per 100,000 customers in this period.

This represented an increase from 34 complaints per 100,000 in the earlier quarter.
