UK-based telecommunications company EE has launched its own branded 4G smartphone, the Kestrel, in the local market.

The company has made the smartphone available with a 4G price plan of £13.99 per month for 24 months that includes 500 minutes of talktime, unlimited text messages and 500MB of 4G data along with the Android-based device.

EE Kestrel, which is manufactured by Chinese company Huawei, is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, a 1GB of RAM and comes with support for LTE cat-4 4G connectivity.

The smartphone has a 4.5-inch 960 x 540 LCD display and runs on Google’s Android 4.3 Jelly Bean version, while featuring pre-installed apps from EE and Amazon.

Kestrel comes with a 5MP rear camera and 1MP front camera for video calling, 8GB on-board storage with option for expansion using a microSD card slot and inbuilt support for HD Voice functionality.

The phone also supports radio and Wi-Fi connectivity, while there is no NFC functionality available for it.
