Keeping it in the General Motors Corp family, Electronic Data Systems Corp has won a five-year facilities management contract from Hughes Space & Communications Co – but it had to bid against AT&T Corp, Computer Sciences Corp, Digital Equipment Corp, Hewlett-Packard Co and IBM Corp to win the business; showing that it still has more clout than any of the pretenders to its crown, Electronic Data Systems has also won a similar 10-year deal at Fruehauf Trailer Corp designed to enhance Fruehauf’s growth opportunities for its core truck-trailer and parts businesses, assuming responsibility for systems management of some applications and software, and reengineering an order-to-cash process which is intended to improve the trailer-maker’s cash flow.
