EDS “TO TAKE ON 600 STAFF FROM FAILED YAMAICHI”

By CBR Staff Writer

Electronic Data Systems Corp is set to hire the entire 600 strong workforce of the information technology unit of failed Japanese bank Yamaichi Securities Co Ltd. EDS is yet to confirm the deal will go ahead, but is said to be responding positively to the request by Yamaichi to hire staff at Yamaichi Information Systems Co. If the planned recruitment goes ahead, it will enable the services company to expand its business in Japan. A Reuters report suggests the agreement between the companies does not include the transfer of the companies goodwill or assets, but it is likely that the affected staff will be in their new positions at EDS’ Japanese unit by the end of the year.
