EDS to boost SAP offering with GEMS buy

EDS Corp is set to acquire Global Enterprise Management Solutions LP, a provider of SAP application services, for an undisclosed sum.

Irving, Texas-headquartered GEMS offers consulting, hosting, and maintenance services around SAP enterprise management and CRM applications. The company is also experienced in working with SAP products such as NetWeaver and other business applications covering enterprise resource planning and product lifecycle management.

Under the terms of the deal, approximately 150 GEMS staff will transfer to EDS, including employees currently based at development centers in India and Germany. The acquisition is expected to close by the end of the year.
