Electronic Data Systems Corp, the US computer services group, is now the largest computer software and services company in the UK with contracts valued at 765m pounds awarded last year, according to The Holway Report. IBM Corp is second with 600m pounds worth of contracts, and ICL Plc, the leader last year, slipping to third place with 578m pounds. The Anglo-French Sema Group Plc is fourth with 361m pounds worth of contracts, but you have to slide down to eighth place to find a fully British-owned company in the ratings, namely GEC Marconi Ltd with 270m pounds. The market as a whole was worth 10.9bn pounds in 1996, up 17% from the previous year.
