EDS SOUNDS OUT UK BUSINESSES ABOUT SATELLITE SERVICES

By CBR Staff Writer

Electronic Data Systems Corp has revealed more details about the planned satellite services that it will operate once it has been granted its up-link single to multi-point license by the UK Department of Trade & Industry. The main thrust will be into business television services, says EDS director of Satellite Services, Paul Franklyn. The facilities management, systems implementation and computer services firm already offers a company TV service to 18 businesses in the US. It is the first to be licensed for downlink satellite transmission in the UK. This facility will be classed as a general licence, available to everybody by the end of the year, but EDS has been given the go ahead early to down-link its US in-house satellite programmes.
