The City of Edinburgh Council has selected CGI to provide outsourced IT services.
The seven-year contract, worth £186 million, will help to facilitate the Council’s shift towards digital channels.
It is expected to deliver efficiency and cost savings of £45 million over the term.
CGI also committed to creating over 200 new jobs and over 60 apprentices, while investing in social enterprises and community groups. As part of the SME Accelerate programme, local SMEs will be included in CGI’s supply chain.
As part of the deal, CGI will improve bandwidth in the city’s schools. The company will also update IT systems in Council service areas and integrate back-office process with a new Enterprise Resource Planning system, based on a specialist local government platform.
