The European Commission is to investigate a complaint from the European Electronics Components Manufacturers Association that South Korean manufacturers are dumping 1M dynamic RAMs in Europe: it says that dumping enabled Korean manufacturers to increase exports to the Community to 4m of the chips in 1989 from 300,000 in 1988, taking their market share to 7.55% from 1.43%; the low prices are of course of benefit to the users of the chips, which employ far more people in Europe than do European makers of memory chips, and also to the buyers of the resulting products.
