WorldCom Inc CEO Bernard Ebbers said the proposed union with MCI Corp would still be a good partner for BT’s Concert global venture. I think the exclusiveness of the Concert relationship is dead, but I find it hard to picture a better partner for BT than MCI/WorldCom in the world other than England. Meantime, BT CEO Sir Peter Bonfield dismissed reports that BT was in merger talks with GTE Corp (CI 3,301) but repeated – as always – that it wanted to break into the US market.
