Many analysts believe eBay and PayPal were expecting some kind of antitrust investigation, as the two companies had anticipated the need to leave at least a three-month period in which to answer any government department’s questions.
eBay’s PayPal transaction cleared
US antitrust authorities have cleared eBay's planned purchase of the PayPal payment platform. The $1.5 billion acquisition was not expected to close until late Q4. The purchase is still subject to approval from PayPal shareholders and other regulatory approvals.
