There are more than 1000 items of Route 66 memorabilia available on eBay, from books and videos on the highway’s history to apparel and souvenirs commemorating its roadside stops. Nearly everything imaginable is up for bid, including gas pump salt & pepper shakers, key chains, motel postcards, die cast toys and collectible signage from every state the highway crosses. One of the rarest items up for bid is Lucille’s Gas Station, built in 1927 on Route 66 near Hydro, Oklahoma, which was owned and run by Lucille Hamons, the Mother of the Mother Road, from 1941 to 1997.

For those who prefer their souvenirs on wheels, the site features hundreds of cars for cruising the highway in style, from the classic Cadillac DeVille, Chevy Impala and Mustang convertible to the Corvette, which became closely identified with the highway thanks to the 1960s Route 66 television series.

For those who feel lucky, eBay Motors is featuring the Route 66 Vintage Vette Giveaway with a chance to win a mint condition 1961 Corvette convertible. Visitors can register online at http://www.ebaymotors.com/route66. The entry deadline is September 16, 2001 and the winner will be announced on or around September 25, 2001.

eBay Motors is a participating sponsor of the Route 66 Rendezvous®, the historical cruising event held in San Bernardino, California from September 13 through 16.
