eBay is planning to launch an in-app mobile advertising network in the fourth quarter of 2014, which will run advertisements on the company’s mobile app.

The venture will be targeting growing market of mobile advertisement.

The platform can help marketers better target their ads because eBay users have a universal login across all devices.

In order to access the app users have to login, which allows eBay to know the activities with the app and provide first party-data to marketers.

Using the first party data, marketers will be able to better target their ads according to the audience.

The company claims that it records over $290m hours of shopping activity each month, and marketers will have access to 60 predefined audience segments which will help the marketers better manage the ads.

The new blog says: "For the first time, we’re giving you the opportunity to connect with eBay users throughout their entire shopping journey."

The new venture could open a new revenue door for the e commerce giant, but it could also divert users away from the site to its advertising sites.
