The ISP said that whenever it seeks an injunction against a spammer, it always includes a universal relief clause, so that spammers are prevented from abusing all networks. The Atlanta, Georgia-based ISP called on other ISPs to take a similar tack, and offered to share its legal briefs with rivals, in a bid to prevent spammers hopping from network to network.
Spam has become an obsession in the internet world of late, with the US government taking an increasing interest in the issue. Earthlink’s offer came at the Federal Trade Commission’s spam forum in Washington, DC.
