The dominance of PowerPC platforms in US military applications has brought a huge boost to Radstone Technology Plc, the UK-based computer sub-systems supplier. While overall circuit board sales showed a modest 8% increase, those based on PowerPC were up 83% as the defense industry maintained its loyalty to Motorola technology. Even after a 500,000 ($805,000) pounds charge for reorganizing production, Radstone recorded a profit of 929,000 pounds ($1.4m) in the year to March 31, up from a profit of 148,000 pounds ($238,280) on revenue that rose a modest 1.9% to 24.2m pounds ($38.9m). Helped by the boom in US sales, which account for more than half of revenue, the year-end order book was up 38.6% at 21.7m pounds ($34.9m).
