ObjectShare Inc, the Irvine, California-based provider of Java and Smalltalk tools, has reported a first-quarter net loss of $1.2m on revenue down 13.1% at $3.2m, compared to a loss of $778,000 in the year-ago quarter. Results for the year-ago period include a restructuring charge of $778,000. Total operating expenses for the quarter were down 12% to $3.0m from $3.4m, the company said. Cash and equivalents totaled $1.4m as of June 30. The company blamed the poor showing for the quarter on overall market softness and increased administrative costs associated with – ironically – its cost-reduction program and the sale of the Parts for Java business unit in April. á
