Computer products distributor, Merisel Inc, has posted a net third-quarter loss of $11.7m, or 15 cents a share, compared with net income of $7.6m in the year-ago period, on revenue up 19% to $1.36bn. Analysts polled by First Call had, on average, expected the firm to lose 11 cents per share in the quarter – downgraded from a previous 8 cents-per-share loss earlier this month when Merisel issued an earnings warning. El Segundo, California-based Merisel said results for the three months to September 30 were affected by changes to its price protection and rebate terms with US vendors. The same problems hit second-quarter earnings, when the firm notched a net loss of $3m or 15 cents a share.
