Media Metrix Inc, New York-based web traffic measurement firm, has reported a second-quarter pre-tax loss of $2.6m on revenue of $4.3m, compared to a loss of $913,000 on revenue of $1.3m in the year-ago quarter. On a per share basis, net of amortization charges, the loss amounted to $0.12 per share – flat with the prior quarter and better than the $0.17 loss expected by analysts. Gross margin for the quarter improved to 50% from 46% in the first quarter. Clients increased to 420 from 352 at the end of the March quarter. For the six-month period, net loss was $5.1m on revenue up 124% at $7.4m.
